Alsophila aescularia ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A rather common species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives on various deciduous trees, like Quercus, Crataegus and fruit trees. Hibernates as pupa.

The adults fly from February till April. The males are attracted to light. The females are apterous.
