Mompha epilobiella (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)

A rather common species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives in a spun shoot of Epilobium hirsutum. It pupates in the spun shoot, or in a folded leaf nearby.

The adults fly from late July till May of the next year. They hibernate in thatch.
