Griposia aprilina (Linnaeus, 1758)

A very rare species known from older records in the north of Belgium but more frequent but still rare in the south of Belgium.

The larva lives on Quercus, first on the buds and flowers and later on the leaves. Hibernates as an egg, laid singly or in small batches on branches or in bark crevices of the food plant.

The adults fly from mid September till the end of October. They come sparsely to light but visits sugar more frequently.
