Hecatera bicolorata (Hufnagel, 1766)

A widespread but not so common species in Belgium.

The larva lives on the flowers and the buds of different plants like e.g. Hieracium or Crepis. Hibernates as a pupa just below the ground.

The adults fly in one, sometimes two generations a year; from late May till mid September. They come to light.
