Iphiclides podalirius (Linnaeus, 1758)

A very rare vagrant in Flanders, local and endangered in the south of Belgium.

The larva lives mainly on Prunus spinosa, but also on Crataegus monogyna.

The adults fly in two generations a year: in May and June, and in August and September. This second generation is only partial.
