Anastassiu H. T., Coutsis J. G. & Ghavalas N.: Late summer/early autumn records of fresh Pontia chloridice from Greece (Lepidoptera: Pieridae). Evidence of a third emergence per year.

The occurrence of fresh specimens of Pontia chloridice (Hübner, 1813) flying in late August/early September is reported here for the first time for Greece. The butterfly was found to be common in two different localities, one situated in the central Rodhópi Mts., the other in the eastern part of the mountain range, and both in the vicinity of the Greek-Bulgarian border. The fresh condition of the majority of specimens implied that they could not possibly be remnants of the 2nd generation that normally flies from June to mid-July. This conjecture is supported by the fact that the HW underside greenish markings are often darker than in the summer brood individuals.

Based on external morphology and DNA analysis, Bembecia pamira Špatenka, 1992 appears to be conspecific with Bembecia zebo and is considered here as a subjective junior synonym of the latter. The name priority is discussed since both taxa were described in the same year. Additionally, the DNA analysis demonstrates a similar profile to Bembecia kreuzbergi Špatenka & Bartsch, 2010 but this species shows clear differences in external morphology, especially in the female, and therefore its status as bona species appears justified. Also Bembecia martensi Gorbunov, 1994 is reviewed briefly. Illustrations of most of the discussed species are shown together with the genitalia preparations, when available.

Two extreme forms of Pseudochazara amymone (Brown, 1976) from Albania are compared with the material studied in a recent variability analysis (Cuvelier & Mølgaard 2015). The results show that P. amymone can even be more variable than previously estimated but the key characters of P. amymone identified in Cuvelier & Mølgaard (2015) hold even for such extreme specimens.

Kolev Z. & Shtinkov N.: The Pygmy Skipper Gegenes pumilio: a new species to Bulgaria, and a confirmation of its occurrence in the eastern Balkan Peninsula (Lepidoptera: Hesperiidae).

This paper details the first definitive record of the subtropical, circum-Mediterranean skipper Gegenes pumilio (Hoffmannsegg, 1804) from Bulgaria. The find is significant not only on a national scale, but primarily because it is the first certain proof of the occurrence of G. pumilio in the central-eastern parts of the Balkan Peninsula. The characters distinguishing this species from its close congener G. nostrodamus (Fabricius, 1793) are reviewed and the differences in the male genitalia are clarified. Circumstances related to the ecology and conservation status of the species are also discussed.

De Prins G.: Polyphaenis sericata (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae, Noctuinae) nieuw voor de Belgische fauna.
Phegea 44(2): 26–27.
Op 20 juni 2015 werd te Merksem (Antwerpen) in een skinnerval (op licht) een exemplaar van Polyphaenis sericata (Esper, 1787) waargenomen. In een oude collectie werd bovendien een ongedetermineerd exemplaar van dezelfde soort ontdekt dat reeds op 14 juli 1972 door A. Lodts te Eindhout (Antwerpen) verzameld was. Deze beide exemplaren zijn tot nu toe (december 2015) de enige die in België waargenomen zijn. Bijzonderheden over de biologie en de verspreiding in Europa worden meegedeeld.

Wullaert S.: Stigmella paradoxa – meidoornvlekmineermot (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae), nieuw voor de Belgische fauna.

Stigmella paradoxa (Frey, 1858) werd in België ontdekt door Jean-Yves Baugnée te Agimont (Namen) op 08.vi.2011. Kort daarna werd er, door de werkgroep Bladmineerders van de Vlaamse Vereniging voor Entomologie, op 25.vi.2011 ook één mijn gevonden in Matagne-la-Grande (Namen). Sindsdien werden geen waarnemingen meer gemeld. Gegevens over de biologie en verspreiding worden meegedeeld.

Un exemplaire de Cosmopterix orichalcea Stainton, 1861 a été photographié à Etalle (Belgique, Luxembourg). Il s’agit de la première mention pour la faune belge. Des informations sur la distribution et la biologie sont données.

Goossens R.: De wilgenspiegelmot, Cydia servillana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), in het zuidoosten van Oost-Vlaanderen.
Phegea 44(2): 33–34.
In de lente en zomer van 2014 en 2015 werden in Baasrode, Vlassenbroek, Lebbeke en Wieze met feromoon in totaal 10 exemplaren gevangen van de wilgenspiegelmot, Cydia servillana (Duponchel, 1836). In hetzelfde gebied werd de soort echter nooit met een lichtval gevangen. Deze soort werd tot nog toe onder andere in Vlaanderen als zeer zeldzaam beschouwd. Het zou daarom kunnen dat ze minder zeldzaam is dan het lijkt omdat ze niet of moeilijk met een lichtval kan worden gelokt. Verder onderzoek moet uitwijzen of deze stelling kan worden bevestigd.

The species status of Lethe baucis Leech, 1891 from China is confirmed based upon male genitalia characters and a new subspecies, L. baucis huanghaoi ssp. nov. from N. Yunnan province, is described and illustrated in this paper.

A review of past publications concerning the occurrence of Maniola megala (Oberthür, 1809) on the Greek eastern Aegean island of Lésvos is presented; the finds about this species on Lésvos in Russell & Hall (2009) and Russell (2012) are discussed and commented upon; the genitalia, both male and female, of Lesvian M. megala and the syntopic and partly synchronous M. telmessia (Zeller, 1847) are figured, described and compared with each other; the male genitalia of a Turkish M. megala are figured and compared with those of its Lesvian counterpart, and finally the conclusion is reached that though, perhaps, the Lesvian M. megala may indeed represent a distinct subspecies, the evidence presently at hand is insufficient for making such a deduction.

Onlangs werden 2 nieuwe Scarabaeoidea-soorten gevonden aan de westrand van Brussel: Aphodius sticticus (Panzer, 1798) en Cetonia aurata (Linnaeus, 1761). In een eerdere publicatie werden 21 andere soorten besproken en afgebeeld door dezelfde auteur (Troukens: 147–159).

Op 7 november 2015 werd te Zandvliet/Berendrecht in de “Ruige Heide” met een skinnerval een exemplaar van Tebenna micalis (Mann, 1857) (Zilveroogje) waargenomen. Bij nader onderzoek bleek dit zeker niet de eerste waarneming in België te zijn. Er staan reeds 35 meldingen op waarnemingen.be (december 2015). Het eerste waargenomen exemplaar komt op naam van Ruben Meert: op 02.viii.2013 te Lebbeke, Oost-Vlaanderen.

A new brown Turanana species from Afghanistan is described on the basis of male wing and genitalia characters. The description is supplemented by colour slides of the specimen, together with line drawings of its genitalia, and those of related taxa.

Sixteen records of butterflies and skippers from Hálki Island are now being presented for the first time ever. Cacyreus marshalli is being reported as new to Sími Island, and an update of the butterflies and skippers of Rhodos Island is being given together with a comparative study of the butterfly and skipper fauna for the lepidopterologically better known islands of the Dhodhekánisa-group.

Claerebout S.: Caryocolum vicinella (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), une nouvelle espèce pour la faune belge.

Le 6 juillet 2015, un exemplaire de Caryocolum vicinella (Douglas, 1851) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) est obtenu à partir de l’élevage de chenilles, prélevées à Pesche le 10 avril de la même année (Couvin, Province de Namur, Belgique). Le 25 juillet 2015, un individu de la même espèce est capturé en pleine journée, à Furfooz (Dinant, Province de Namur, Belgique). Il s'agit des premières mentions de cette espèce en Belgique. Elle est actuellement connue de pratiquement tous les pays européens. Les chenilles sont inféodées aux Caryophyllaceae.

Onlangs werden twee nieuwe Tenebrionidae gevonden aan de westrand van Brussel: Platydema violaceum (Fabricius, 1790) en Corticeus unicolor Piller & Mitterpacher, 1783. Beide soorten leven onder losse schors van dood loofhout. De eerste is in België heel zeldzaam. De tweede is een recente nieuwkomer: vanaf 1996 is zijn aanwezigheid vastgesteld in 25 lokaliteiten.

Tijdens de 4de inventarisatie van Le Gros Tienne te Lavaux-Sainte-Anne (Namen) werd op 03.v.2014 een koker gevonden op Prunus spinosa (sleedoorn). Deze werd later door DNA-onderzoek op naam gebracht als zijnde Coleophora adjectella Herrich-Schäffer, 1861. Deze soort wordt hier voor het eerst uit België gemeld. Gegevens over de verspreiding en de biologie worden meegedeeld.

Op 6 juni 2015 werden te Aywaille (Luik) verscheidene rupsen gevonden van een vedermot (Pterophoridae) op Driedistel (Carlina vulgaris L.). Na uitkweken werd bevestigd dat het ging om Calyciphora albodactylus (Fabricius, 1794).

Le 16 juin 2014, un exemplaire de Grapholita pallifrontana (Lienig & Zeller, 1846) a été capturé à Vierves-sur-Viroin (province de Namur, Belgique). Il s'agit de la première mention de cette espèce en Belgique. Elle est actuellement connue de dix-huit pays européens. La chenille est monophage et vit exclusivement sur Astragalus glycyphyllos.

Tijdens de 2de excursie van de Werkgroep Bladmineerders in het Wijnendalebos te Torhout (West-Vlaanderen) op 26.vi.2010 vonden we een Argyresthiidae waarvan we lange tijd niet wisten om welke soort het ging. Het exemplaar werd op genitaliën gecontroleerd en gedetermineerd als Argyresthia laevigatella Herrich-Schäffer, 1855. Gegevens over de verspreiding en de biologie van de soort worden meegedeeld.

Op 2 augustus 2013 werd te Dilbeek (Vlaams-Brabant, België) in een lichtval een exemplaar gevangen van Serropalpus barbatus (Schaller, 1783). Deze boreomontane springkever is bekend in de hele Holarctische regio en leeft onder schors van dode en zieke naaldbomen. Tegenwoordig zit hij blijkbaar in een expansieve fase.
